Digitize HV Electricity Network

Challenge

Energy Queensland Limited needed to digitize their high voltage electricity distribution network to implement an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS). This required the expertise of a prime contractor, GE Grid Solutions, who in turn needed a team of 20 geospatial contractors to perform cartography services from their Brisbane offices using the PowerOn Advantage software. Technical support as outlined in the contract was also necessary.

Solution

GIS People provided a solution by supplying a team of 20 contractors who were trained in PowerOn Advantage. The team was capable of dealing with complex editing scenarios and were able to provide data management services using the software. The team’s expertise facilitated the implementation of the ADMS and the digitization of Energy Queensland Limited’s high voltage electricity distribution network.

Outcomes

 

• GIS People delivered mapping services that met the customer’s requirements by developing PowerOn Advantage schematic diagrams.
• The team validated the produced schematic diagrams against the company-supplied current schematic and SCADA diagrams and returned an updated electronic copy of the marked-up diagrams used for validation.
• This engagement facilitated one of the largest implementations of PowerOn Advantage in the Asia Pacific region and was successfully completed on time and on budget.
